Phillips Honored by Union Rescue Mission with Heart of Service Award

Union Rescue Mission honored our very own CEO and founder, Patty Phillips at their 9th annual Hearts for Hope Gala for her longtime commitment to fundraising and assistance for Hope Gardens Family Center.

In addition to food and shelter, Hope Gardens offers the real help that women an their families need to escape homelessness, including receiving long term rehabilitation, job training, counseling, and encouragement. The Rev. Andy Bales, URM CEO, remarked on, “Patty’s tireless efforts to coordinate many galas, her financial support of the URM family and the many times she has donated her Patty’s Gourmet Pizza has been integral to their success.” Anyone who knows Patty has experienced her graceful, kind and generous heart and soul.

“When you see these women and children struggling, your heart just breaks for them.  I am incredibly grateful to be a part of this program,” Phillips stated upon receiving the “Heart of Service” award.

Here she is with lovely host, Angela Bassett, and additional honorees, the LAPD first responders who helped evacuate Hope Gardens during the December 2017 creek fire as well as the Porto family of Porto’s Bakery for their years of food donations that helped serve over 3,000 meals daily.
